Pros

I loved working here! I loved the people I worked with, as well as the ladies and gentlemen I was serving. It was definitely one of my favourite jobs, and that is 100% due to the individuals that live there.

Cons

When I had given up my position there, I had promised the people who lived there that I would come back to visit. I did this because many of them were very sad that I was leaving and has asked that of me. so of course I did! We had some great conversations and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to see them all again. I also told them I would come back more often, because they had again asked that of me. I did not however know that if you had worked there prior, you are not allowed back. I was very thrown off by this and find it to be ridiculous. These individuals that lived there, pay an incredible amount to be there, and half of them do not have visitors. So when they had asked that of me, of course I would come back. To find out that that is not allowed is beyond me and I think that is a rule that should not exist. Unless there was a leave due to bad terms, or the individual is actually disruptive, I do not see why one would not be allowed to come and visit. So because of that I do not give this place a high rating. I also had gotten very close with the seniors there and many of them had compaints about the place, either it being their finances and costs raising, or the food they were being given, Our specific retirement home has also gone through many different directors within the last year and a half.

Pros

It's a company with culture that is focused for well being of our seniors. In the role you learn to be patient, compassionate and respectful. Seniors move here to live and enjoy their golden years of life. Like any other company this has an approach of 'every one sells'. There definitely is a lot of support at all management positions and the best part for me is that my boss's respect me and allow me to make decisions, no micro managing.

Cons

Lot of hard work and persistence but then it's a good thing! If you are feeling that the work is getting too much too handle then raise your hand and see the support they send to the community to assist you with.
