Pros
-A lot of awesome people who work hard and have good intentions (the people I directly worked with are the main reason the overall rating isn't worse). -Technology itself is really cool and has huge potential, needs a lot of work to get anywhere close though. -Remote/hybrid work provides a lot of flexibility and life balance. -No probation period to get on health insurance and everyone is given discretional (unlimited) PTO right away. -Hire-on options vest monthly after the first year.
Cons
-Have genuine concerns on the company's ability to deliver on the promise of their concept. -I believe they have a poor understanding of their weaknesses relative to the existing market and what is causing their unacceptable performance and cost. -Autocratic CEO who is more interested in having his ideas win, rather than what is best for the technology or company. -Lost track of the market and e-commerce's growth trajectory, over hired, underdelivered, and it will fall to the common employee in the form of layoffs. -If your team is largely remote it can be difficult to get meaningful feedback and mentorship. -Salary is underwhelming, bottom 20% based on APEGA standards. -The equity allotted in the hire-on options is a nice touch but will likely only cover the difference in how much less they pay in salary vs established companies. IF the options pay out at all. -Being outperformed by competitors in terms of reliability, market penetration, and cost.
