Pros

Some places are run by stupid people but have everyone fooled because of their charisma. Some places have the most brilliant folks but the atmosphere is sick with a lack of leadership and humility. Entercom is a decent place for decent people. Many were not the sharpest, but all are hard working and find creative and caring ways to get things done. You will find good leadership and little management overhead, both a plus when trying to be creative.

Cons

Radio has a bad rap right now. The debt Entercom, and other radio companies, have created buying stations has caused the stock price to tank. The result is an environment to be tight as of December 08 (then again who isn't). Many times there is too much emphasis on sales personnel when there should be more in creating good content for the station(s). The stations do their best, however, many are suffering a lack of inspirational content and branding.

Pros

Radio is FUN. Perks of being on the radio include a broad audience reach, the ability to build a personal brand, meeting new people and celebrities, gaining technical skills, impacting lives with content, instant feedback through broadcasts, and the potential for creative expression. Work/Life balance is good, especially in recent years with the techniolical advancements.

Cons

Horrible management at the corporate level, low pay, lack of advancement opportunities, and a toxic work environment. Some positive co-worker relationships and helpful management at the local level. Financial mismanagement led to Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2024 and later layoffs. Buddy system: Many consultants receive large checks for little to no work. "Friends" are promoted, not the best person. Senior management is still employed and paid well for destroying brands and not rewarding employees who deliver results.
