Pros

-Getting to work with amazing kids -seeing the progress your clients make and knowing that you were the reason by that success -seeing the changes in the parents/guardians of children when their child begins to master goals

Cons

-the pay is awful -employees are not valued in the slightest -lots of miscommunication between supervisors -some supervisors are disconnected from the children and push you to get results, even when a child is having a bad day or it is harming the overall progress, they will continue to pressure you into collecting better statistics instead of properly caring for a child -not a whole lot of training-- you kind of just get thrown into having clients with lots of terminology and are expected to know exactly what to do. The training consists of classes and textbook information but no real on the job training which I feel is imperative for a job like this where you are working with children in general, let alone children with autism -the job itself is extremely draining.. emotionally, mentally, and even physically. -you will get hit, kicked, or bit by a client (sometimes all 3) and be expected not to react or get any kind of help/relief from supervisors because "it's just part of the job". It can be extremely dangerous and there is not any hazardous pay available -they promise growth within the company but they don't mention that that is contingent on your supervisors filling out progress forms for you... if they even do it at all. My supervisors did not fill these forms out accordingly and I was not aware that it wasn't being done until months after the fact

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. Although we offer 40 hours of clinical training per national certification requirements, we are aware that the most rigorous aspects of training happen on the job. Regrettably, our post-training field support program has been paused temporarily, due to safety measures related to Covid-19. We are incredibly grateful for our supervisor team for their efforts to go the extra mile to support our newer BTs. We are excited to launch a revised, socially-distanced approach to post-training live support in fall 2020. As training is a constant evolution to meet the needs of our team members, thank you again for your thoughtful feedback!
