Pros

I've managed to work with a few very good people. I can't think of any one good coworker who has wanted to work at Autozone. It's more of the idea that they are stuck in the job for whatever reason. My understanding is that some women will act inappropriately in order to advance. The other side of the coin being that some men will take full advantage of a women willing to "give a little more effort" in order to advance in the company. This could also be seen as a plus for some: It appears it is very difficult to get fired from Autozone unless you are caught stealing or rack up too many call outs or such.

Cons

This is one of the companies that believe that the customer is always right. The problem with this is the customers commonly walk all over you because the manager on duty or district manager wants no complaints from the customers to get above him. Honestly he doesn't want to hear about any of it either. All the people I know trying to support families off their pay are stretched incredibly thin even with a spouse working, but that could be most jobs today. I have been promised advancement for about two years now, but it hasn't happened. There is plenty of employee theft and they always point to the lack of pay as being a reason (I still don't agree with it). There are plenty of rumors of employees sleeping together, cheating with coworkers, using sex to advance in the company, etc. Employees are expected to work longer without a break longer than allowed by law. Problem employees can be incredibly difficult to get rid of, even if plenty of evidence is gathered. Meanwhile, good employees can be fired for not jumping through the correct hoops. There are lots of little things Autozone tracks to make sure you're "doing your job'. This includes asking people loads of questions when they call and trying to get customers to make lots of last minute purchases (customers often don't even register what you say).

Pros

Job when there are very few in in this area.

Cons

Many issues with very little respect to employees race. Auto Zone does not comply with wage and hour laws employees are expected to work off the clock. Also the policies are unfair treatment, fringe benefits such as overtime are un-equal. Auto Zone does not comply with EEOC laws, they claim that they they are like the army and do what ever they want. Conduct is willful careless racist, offensive remarks are very common. The environment is very hostile, racist symbols are very common and are all over there property they refuse to correct issues like this and they do retaliate very much so.

Pros

Stable growing company. Recession proof

Cons

Not thought of as a place to grow a career. Very rigid--very little teamwork. Communciations is spotty, contradictory, confusing, inaccurate, incomplete. Very few individuals with more than a high school education, even in Senior Management positions. Very weak in showing employees that they are cared about by the company.
