Pros

From a designer perspective, it's an environment where design has a strong voice, you don't have to fight for it as other tech companies. Flexible work hours, working from home, distance. Fancy and nicely located offices

Cons

No trajectory for career growth, especially if you are an individual contributor. Hard to output portfolio ready projects with too often changing directions. Distributed teams, clashing agendas, black box decision making.

Pros

Great people, opportunity to use a great workshop

Cons

It's operated completely in a different way in some group. In the group I was in, middle management decided that we have to be on-site Monday through Friday.

Thanks for this feedback. I work closely with the leaders of the social media and PR team and can understand where you're coming from. PR works in "sprints" where we focus communication on a particular topic. Right now, it's making. It is valuable to hear that you think the focus might be too much on the topic considering as a company we do so much more! In terms of working from home, the company doesn't have a formalized policy on it. Each department is different and many have very flexible attitudes towards when and where you work. Good luck out there, thanks again for taking the time to provide your thoughts.

Pros

Good benefits, exciting and innovative changes happening with their products and solutions now. Some really great management who will really help you develop - depends on group and location.

Cons

Depends in which group you work for, can seem like completely different company. A lot of lip service and discussion time to development but real growth and opportunity only available to some in reality. All groups and divisions claim they are global but there is a lot of contraction now, hiring only in Bay area, young people lower payscales who don't have a lot of experience or skills. A lot of people with deep knowledge and experience - and higher paygrades - purged. Some VPs surround themselves with 'yes' men/women.

I'm sorry that you're had this experience. I can assure you that we pride ourselves on fair hiring practices with regards to all protected classes (age included) but it's important for us to be aware if employees feel otherwise. Autodesk has a 3rd party service in place that you can use to talk about workplace issues and provide feedback anonymously (855-822-9535). Another option would be to contact your HR business partner. I have passed along this review to the appropriate HR leadership.
