Pros

Good pay, compelling work, amazing technology, fantastic work environment and offices, gives back to the community, and great vision: Autodesk's vision is to help people imagine, design, and create a better world.

Cons

The politics and bureaucracy can be frustrating and slow down progress. There's a bit of a "club" at the exec level and they can be disconnected from the boots on the ground.

Pros

Great benefits. Good Culture and work life balance depending on the team. Fosters a good sense of community via community outreach programs, and volunteering opportunities.

Cons

The groups that I have worked in seem to be resistant to change. People that have been with the company for a long time seem to have carved out their spot in the company and are reluctant to give up what they have. Really hard for people joining the company to get ramped up. Lots of antiquated processes. Poor implementation of technology is a recurring problem.

Pros

Challenging work, with excellent benefits. There are also some really nice and smart people peppered in with all of the politics, and poor leadership. And it's really exciting to observe and experience the results of what the software can achieve, to know that you had something to do with it!

Cons

Work/life balance appalling: manager directly said we all "needed to work longer and harder" to adjust for resources that were laid off due to budget constraints (team members were already working 10+ hour days for over a year). Office culture: Sink or swim, there is little to no help or direction. You need to be of the mind set to be willing to just try something and maybe fail, then accept the consequences. Human Resource Dept, Recruiting, and the senior Leadership teams are among the worse I've dealt with in 30+ years. Recruiting - they do not respond, nor do they provide feedback to individuals on whether they've been selected, or passed on - just rude. Management teams, they grows teams and then dismiss resources with apparently little thought of the impact it has on individuals and team members - which can be devastating. It would be far better to shrink/grow with contractors rather than impact FTE's consistently. And HR - non existent! I had a resource visiting from another country hit by a car on the way to work, broke his ribs and had internal bruising. He was delayed going home for over a month due to the injuries. HR did very little to help this young man - provided no direction or help. And when I mentioned to my manager that the young man was having difficulty using his hand, he said "he still has another good hand to use - so he's good". Not funny!
