Toxic company

Pros

The RPA industry is definitely hot and very trendy right now. It looks great from outside with funding. If you don't have a micro-manager, you get to take on additional responsibilities to add to your resume but be ready not to have any time off.

Cons

Very chaotic with a lot of broken internal systems. All processes are very manual and lots and lots of emails. Founders run the company like amateurs. Many of the senior management are friends of founders and it seems they are all connected on a personal level. It seems like good 70% are Indian and the rest are Chinese. Only few white. Lack of diversity in that regard. Management does not trust the employees (they tell you so) and everything requires so many approvals and takes forever. Changes direction with one word from the founders. You get texts and calls at 2 in the morning and they expect you to answer emails during holidays, weekends, day and night. You will have to create your boundaries or you will burn out! Working condition is worse. They double up people in a cube and it is so loud that you can’t focus on your work. When employees complain, CEO’s wife just says “just have fun with it”. We are not making big bucks so why should we stick around? So many people leaving only after a short time. They don't even offer 401K match. I tell my friends to stay away.

Thank you for the review. We do have a lot of systems that are breaking as a result of growth that has stretched every system to the breaking point. But we do have some great, new, scalable systems. We've implemented Workday and have turned on module after module, with more to come. Purchasing is now far less manual. Gone are the days of our broken HRIS. We're making progress! But it's true we have a lot more progress to make. Especially in the realm of work-life balance/blend. I'm sorry about your difficult experience. We will continue to strive to improve on these issues you mention.

Pros

Nice to be in a growth industry with lots of upside and there are a lot of smart and dedicated people here. It's impressive to work with people who are whip smart and generous with their time and expertise.

Cons

The more money is on the table and the better the prospects the less leadership cares about anything else. The values sound hollow, almost cringey with the obvious gap between words and actions. With little information shared more widely than the 4 founders, it's hard to feel like the company is making any headway. Everything out of the leaders' mouths is corp-speak or fluffy hazy visions.

Thank you for your thoughtful review. The say-do gap between values and actions can deeply injure morale, and we invite you to share specifics of these gaps with us via the internal surveys so that we can get that feedback to the right folks. The gap is unacceptable, and with your direct and explicit feedback, we *will* find out where it's happening and *will* make sure the feedback is taken seriously. Regarding the information sharing comment -- we have some teams who are excellent at sharing information, and some that are not yet excellent. We're working to teach expectations for what good leadership looks like in this regard, and we're also implementing information sharing systems (Team Anywhere Intranet, MS Teams and a more rigorous, regular All Hands are all recent improvements) that have greatly increased sharing across the company. There's more to come here. You're completely right to suggest that "corp speak" and "fluffy hazy visions" aren't acceptable communications approaches in the modern workplace. Please keep an eye on All Hands and share your feedback via the survey that comes out after each All Hands meeting. This feedback steers our content development and helps us hold leaders accountable to delivering real talk and real information.

Sales Slavery and Ponzi Schemes

Pros

Made some good friends while working there

Cons

Great dynasties were built by an army of workers who were never paid their due share. AA grew in a similar fashion by using sales guys as slaves, who worked hard and sold sub-standard and low quality products, and who were duped into selling ponzi schemes called DDs. AA used this effectively in multiple ways which was pure evil genius: 1. Showed huge paper bookings to investors and raised money 2. The DDs were never consumed and they refused to pay sales people 3. Many products failed to work and customers cancelled contracts. AA again found an excuse not to pay sales people their commissions citing that the company didn't get paid so they cannot sales people. 4. When sales people complain to HR, they assign the cases to a well-trained Employment Attorney who deploys delay tactics as long as possible and then offers 10-20% of the due commissions just to get the release documents signed so that they don't get sued. 5. Senior management wash their hand off and the CRO, CHRO, CEO and anyone else you go to refuse to do anything about the issue because THEY DON'T WANT TO. Bottomline - this is hell for sales people where they are used like slaves and not paid. But don't take my word for it - just ask any sales person who is no longer at AA. Or check the number of people who have left in the last 2 years.
