Cons

Overseas management makes all decisions while US executive management hides themselves in their unlabeled offices and safeguard their part of the building with security measures even to their own employees No executive interaction with employees unless it’s staged. No work life balance. Long hours, stress, relentless meetings, etc. Remote or hybrid working isn’t in their future portfolio, and will be a thing of the past. Don’t let them fool you with their mental health advocacy either. They are known for placing employees on performance improvement plans after returning to work from a disability leave only to terminate them with sad disastrous outcomes to follow.

Great jumping off point for a renewable energy career

Pros

Generous paid time off and 401k. Lots of hard workers with a collaborative focus within the individual contributor ranks. Good place to hone renewable energy skillset.

Cons

If you are not Spanish or an ExPat, your longevity, if you want to move up, will be limited. Most leadership positions are filled by non-competitive means unrelated to the eligible pool of applicants.

Pros

A true team atmosphere amongst Renewables employees, with a common higher purpose. People are dedicated to growing renewable energy, not just looking for a pay check. Benefits with regard to paid time off and 401(k) contributions are fairly generous for a large corporation.

Cons

Ownership by a large foreign utility introduces substantial process meant for control but in many cases simply frustrating efficient completion of regular business transactions. This distracts from progress toward company goals and makes change and process improvements difficult to achieve. Irrational focus on cost savings keeps the business too lean and slows adoption of improvements as employees often struggle to get regular work completed with little time for strategic reflection.
