Pros

-Remote -Unlimited PTO (for qualified roles) -My area manager was Top Tier -Learning Initiatives (when I first started) -Lunch & Learns ( when I first started)

Cons

-TA team was a little disorganized -No room for growth -Leadership states they offer transparency but in company calls when you’d ask questions about things like layoffs you get the generic “it’s performance based” etc. -Learning and Development stipend was removed as an offering -Lunch & Learns became just Learns. They removed a monthly company virtual lunch which was a bummer because it acted as an initiative. -Constant turnover in remote departments that directly impacted in field employees -due to layoffs the leadership team took the approach of “this is a great time for people to step up and take on learning new skills” (which was really just code for we’ve laid off people and need current employees to take up the slack with no compensation

Pros

- Remote - Decent benefits - Direct Manager was great - Co-workers were brilliant

Cons

Leadership (CEO and Execs) are terrible. Big decisions were not informed to the rest of the company until it was too late. Too much chaos, in the beginning, led to an IMMENSE amount of $$$ wasted buying items that were never used. Because no one was keeping track and people were making wrong decisions, hundreds were affected by sneaky laid-offs and those who were let go did not even have the chance to say goodbye.

AvantStay did undergo a series of layoffs and performance-based terminations at the end of 2022 and early 2023 in order to protect it from volatility in the macroeconomic environment, and ensure its long-term success. Terminations and layoffs are never easy and we understand that this time was unsettling for those impacted, however we are proud to report that through the incredible work of our team, we have transformed our platform, technology and operations, embedding scalable efficiencies across the board, returning the company to profitability and fortifying its long-term success. We have not conducted any layoffs for two consecutive quarters and are excited to continue to grow and develop our extraordinary team. AvantStay is not the same company it was 12 months ago, and we are proud of our ability to pivot and optimize our operations in order to build the best vacation rental company in the nation.

Pros

Pros? This company is disgusting.

Cons

It is quite chuckle some to see these incentivized positive reviews. They must have offer them an $25 Uber Eats gift card per usual lol. Out of all of the negative reviews that I have yet to see anyone speak on their experience as a person of color so I feel that is it my duty to speak on my experience. Possibly because there is a lack of people of color in your organization, AvantStay? And you all try to advertise “diversity.” What a joke. As a person of color and specifically someone who identifies as being African American this was absolutely the WORST place that I have ever been employed. I have worked for several companies including some of the largest global organizations which often caused me to be the only minority in spaces but I have NEVER had encounters, as the ones that I have experienced with this company. From the very beginning I was looked down on, tone policed, experienced micro aggressions, and dismissed by my white counterparts. Having a voice and simply expressing yourself was impossible because you will be deemed as aggressive; That is quite dangerous! There were instances where my white colleague would go to our manager with concerns and later on I would address the same concerns, and they would be dismissed. Hmmm…. In particular, there was a Director who I might add was an extremely mediocre unqualified hire that came in and destroyed an entire department with her toxicity and negativity, Of course it was ignored and she was given a promotion. Also, it is quite coincidental that the same individuals were being promoted and I’ve watched POC be there for over a year or more with no real promotion. They made a few “diversity hires” and I guess that was supposed to be enough. Huge joke. I literally watched them push out a POC because they stood up and had a voice. Oh and I can’t forget about my colleague who was a POC was told by a white man that they were so “Eloquently spoken” compared to some other individuals. How i this an appropriate thing to say? Oh and guess what AvantStay, there are people who have been reaching out to me for the past year who is interested in working for the company and guess what I have been doing? Airing it all out. I don’t hold back and go into extreme detail and they leave our conversation absolutely disgusted and no longer interested in working here. This place is extremely dangerous, unsafe, along with being volatile, and I will continue to use my voice to bring awareness! I felt as if I was experiencing modern day slavery while working here. It is my responsibility to protect anyone who looks like me from experiencing what I have experienced while being employed there so I will scream to the mountaintop to warn them to stay away because they will not be protected or advocated for here. Don’t even thinking about going to HR as they WILL NOT CARE. You all should be ashamed of yourselves as an organization as to how you treat people. Just imagine being a POC and working here during the height of the pandemic, racial injustices at an all time high and having to come to a toxic workplace to be bullied every single day? As someone else mentioned in another review this company will come crashing down and people will reap for how they have treated individuals. I have watched amazing people come in bubbly, eager, motivated and quickly deteriorate because they are beaten and broken down. Oh and stop using the excuse of “underperformance” to push people out. I witnessed this happen to someone who used their voice to call out the crap and advocated for themselves which they didn't like and all of a sudden they were put on a PIP and was out. HORRIBLE! The amount of people who have mental health issues after working at this company is absolutely ridiculous. Lastly, please do not worry about responding with a generic response to my review as you are doing to others and try to gaslight me. There are other platforms that are available for me to share my horrible experience with which I will be doing:) Even if you are not a POC, I hope that you will take my review discussing my experience into consideration when thinking about joining this organization. Personally, I would not want to work at a company who showcases behaviors as such. Trust me, there are far better companies who will pay much more. Don’t let their “perks” that they try to use to lure you in get you. I kick myself everyday for turning down multiple other offers to work at such trash and filth.
