The few employees that remain from the VWR days are wonderful, intelligent, hard working people.

Cons

Avantor killed the culture that VWR built. The environment is terrible now. Data analytics runs the show now. Great people were forced out. Most others saw the writing on the wall, like me, and ran for the exit. Executive leadership thinks entering data into SalesForce is the ultimate way to grow the business. They also want to know what you are doing on a daily basis. People still there will tell you its an awful environment. They claim to be "diversity" friendly, but check out who the senior execs are....

Pros

My team is strong and resilient despite what we deal with on a daily basis. We lean on each other for support. Working here has made me realize what I truly value in a company/management. Spoiler alert: it's not at Avantor.

Cons

The cons start with the hostile, rude, arrogant, and unacceptable behavior by management. I am not here to endure workplace trauma. The lack of consistent information, thorough training, and general professionalism is disappointing. The different areas of the business are worlds apart in how they are managed. We seem to have gotten the bottom of the barrel.

Pros

There are some great, hard-working people still there. The leadership team was formed from an inexperienced network of former consultants. They came, they destroyed, but have gotten their bonuses and stock option payouts and are starting to leave. There's hope for the future, if they bring on better senior leadership.

Cons

When Avantor took over VWR a few years ago, they came in like a bull in a china shop. The management culture shifted to focus solely on extreme cost-cutting at the expense of quality, customer satisfaction, long-term growth, and employee morale. The Solon site became a revolving door for a solid year or two. In the short term, it looked good on paper and management got their bonuses, stock grants, and stock options. What's left in the dust is a site that hasn't been properly maintained or invested in for a couple years now.
