Pros

too disappointed to think right now

Cons

I have been working for VWR Avantor for several years. Since we are acquired by Avantor, we are all told that safety is the most critical factor in this company. For example, put lid when drink coffee or have several safety minutes before each meeting. All of these make sense. However, when the corona-virus pandemic comes that real safety issues rise, this great company issue an HR policy that requires any eligible employee to apply for work from home with two levels managers' approval process. Please remember this policy is under the circumstance of most pharma companies encourage their employee to work from home , Gov declared a national emergency and employee safety is the MOST critical thing. Do they really mean safety is most important?

Pros

Great learning opportunity and different everyday covering your selected geographic territory and fields (pharm, bio, industrial). Very interesting.

Cons

Company cheats you by playing with the commission payout - great month then for some reason no sales last days of the month to lower your payout. Then double down if you don't make your numbers. Freight is a profit center. Lots of turnover in many areas. Pricing is noncompetitive when looking at online competitors. Reducing inventory so having no stock. Too many hoops to jump thru to get anything done with lots of steps in between to take you away from selling. You are doing too many administrative tasks from credit issues, returns, orders, setting up accts, quoting etc. Not a realistic work /life balance.

Pros

The people who are remaining are great people. If you don't have a job, considerate for that reason. But if you have a job and are looking, pass by as it is too unstable.

Cons

It's a company that has all the good people looking elsewhere right now. Layoffs and cost cutting in 2017 and 2018 have made the workloads heavy and perks are minimal to none. Benefits like insurance are bottom of the barrel. Having the resources to get your job done is a difficult task now. A really good company changed to a 'sweat shop' mentality in the matter of 6 months under Avantor. Morale is at an all time low and will continue to drop as more and more good people leave. A union is probably in the future, like at many other Avantor plants, and that says everything you need to know.
