Pros

At Axon, you have an opportunity to work along side many people who are very talented and passionate about their work. Working to improve public safety and give our police officers viable non-life-threatening options, and state-of-the-art equipment is definitely rewarding. We also get into cutting-edge stuff like drones as first responders (DFR) and experiments into AI to accelerate evidence reviews, so if you're on those teams, it can be quite exciting stuff to work on!

Cons

Strong DEI (actually, they do the whole JEDI thing with "J" for "Justice" too, which fits nicely into corporate's sci-fi themes) influence throughout the company. This may be a plus for some, but for me, it's a practice that has no place anywhere. It promotes exactly the opposite of what it espouses and negatively affects the working environment. Due to the nature of our work, our local systems are highly-regulated/safeguarded by IT. This also may not bother some depending on what you're already used to, but coming from looser environments, it can be real drag. Just be ready for it. At least we still have local admin privileges on dev systems. Laptops given to new employees in dev by IT are inadequate. At least for a UI engineer, an M2 with 16GB is just not enough for all the tools we run on a regular basis, which tend to be visual tools due to the nature of our work, and so they need memory. New systems should have 32GB memory minimum. A cheaper M1 with 32GB would be far better than a newer M2 with 16GB.
