Good Mission, Mixed Leadership

Pros

CEO is mission-driven, knows what he wants to accomplish, and believes in what he does and the people that make it happen. Much of the lower and middle management keeps their teams focused. The best teams provide amazing learning opportunities and career growth.

Cons

CTO and C-Suite are slowly turning Axon into another Amazon. Stack ranking, forces team members to compete against each other for promotions and raises. Undermines "Join Forces" and "Win Right." As much as Rick is mission-driven, the CTO is image-driven. Difficult to get the resources we need to get our jobs done. Can't approve expenses for computers, and IT doesn't have computers and equipment.

- Growing fast, so complexity grows quickly and brings many challenges like how to quickly teach many new engineers on a huge backend system
