Pros

Working here does have its advantages, especially if you are young and/or eager to learn new skills. You will get one or two years of fast-paced, intense immersion in a banking/finance environment. The bank is growing and growing fast. If you tend to vote Republican or like Trump, this is the place to work. They have a conference room named after Barry Goldwater. It appears to almost be a requirement to be a GOP partisan if you want to advance into management. The CEO seems like he knows what he's doing and is fairly accessible. Innovation is encouraged from management level on down.

Cons

Axos has a unique company culture which tends to put its employees through the grinder and more often than not sends them on their way voluntarily or not after a couple of years (just read previous reviews for further evidence on this.). Do not plan on making a lifetime job here (unless you love Trump and get promoted into mgmt) Management can sometimes be confrontational and often is not politically correct. Entire departments appear to be turned over every two years or so. Excessive bureaucracy due to all processes having to be documented and signed off by multiple layers of mgmt at least once or twice a year, along with the usual bank regulatory overhead. Frequent frustration and confusion due to "Office of the CEO" department, a group of mostly young new college grads who "double-check" and "suggest" new applications/company directions/processes that often conflict with other department directions (ie Jared Kushner in the Trump admin). Bonus structure is in stock, takes a while to vest and provides little additional compensation, despite what they tell you in interviews.

Thanks for sharing your impressions. Not sure how much insight readers can glean from the name of a single conference room; we also have conference rooms named after Teddy Roosevelt and Ben Franklin. But here's the bigger point: To the degree there is an ideological prism through which Axos views the world, it's not so much about politics as it is about economics -- and the conviction that maintaining a robust free-enterprise system is essential to the American Dream. Our meritocratic culture is the embodiment of that philosophy: we demand emotional investment, hard work and excellence.

Pros

The Junior Credit Analyst (JCA) Rotation program is great for recent grads that are looking for experience in the Banking industry. The rotations offer in depth training on various areas of the Credit Department (Data Analytics, Audit, Underwriting, Portfolio Management, etc.). The Bank thrives on improving processes. Coming into Axos with the mindset of trying to make things better will get you very far and noticed by upper management! The rotation program is truly unique as you learn many aspects of how the Bank operates and you can impact the day-to-day business. Management supports continued learning and will regularly set up training such as SQL, advanced Excel, and Robotic Process Automation. There is an opportunity to present a process improvement in front of the Chief Credit Officer, this is a great way to get recognition.

Cons

I wish there was a better ocean view.

We appreciate your feedback. Certainly sounds like you're thriving in our culture! Continuous improvement is a way of life at Axos, and it's great to hear that you're taking part in that effort both personally and professionally. As far as the ocean view goes, we'll simply say this: As a meritocracy that rewards individuals based on their hard work and success, Axos puts no limit on what you can achieve. So keep up the great work and see what happens!

Pros

I’ve been working here at the bank in their Junior Credit Analyst program for a little over 6 months now and absolutely love it here. The bank has a unique rotational program which means you are given the opportunity to work at different departments to figure out where you’d like to end up. Based on what I’ve heard, this is pretty unusual. OT is encouraged but not mandatory (at least with my managers); however you'll probably have times where you'll need to put extra time in. You need to be a go-getter to succeed here. If you are looking for a very by-the-book experience, this may not be a good fit for you. Company culture: it’s a very diverse company with people from different backgrounds, ethnicities, etc. You’re doing a lot of work and overall things are very fast-paced, but in general most people are very chill and friendly. You’ll feel like you’ve worked here a longer than you actually have due to how much you are learning and doing. In my view, the experience you receive is unlike what you’ll get at any other entry level position at most any other bank. Overall if you’re fresh out of college or looking for a way to get into credit analysis type positions, Axos Bank is a fantastic place to start to learn the skills you need and have fun along the way.

Cons

I’ve heard that a lot depends on what department you wind up in. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with my supervisors and coworkers but have heard of some in other departments being sketch. Regardless, show up with a good attitude to learn and you will succeed here. And if you don’t like your job or supervisor, fear not, for you can request to rotate out after a couple months – you are never stuck in a bad position. Compensation is definitely much below average but if you’re willing to put in the time up front, it pays off. You get a bonus every six months, pro-rated if you start after the beginning of the six month period, and stock vestments over 3 years. I think a lot of prior bad reviews didn’t fully understand how the bonus structure worked, so pay close attention to it to make sure you know what’s happening. 3 weeks paid vacation with good sick leave policy too is not too shabby at all either. But yes, as prior reviews mentioned, the pay could definitely stand to be improved.
