Pros

-Great opportunity straight out of college, allow overtime. -Health Benefits -Main office in La Jolla has cool amenities like private gym. -Potential ability to have free training in areas requested (not paid for this training though) -Cool opportunities to hear/learn from executives and learn more about the banking industry from seasoned experts.

Cons

- Few rotations in this "rotational program" - End of year bonus is a bit misleading - Compensation/Pay is pretty low. - Ability to excel/enjoy program reliant on which department you're appointed to, not based on merit but on luck. - Position ends up boiling down to admin/servicing work that doesn't provide much in the way of learning about the banking industry from an analytical and seems to be menial work that managers just don't want to hear or think about.

Thanks for taking the time to share your insights. It sounds like you're seeking greater responsibility/challenge, which is something our meritocratic culture encourages. We'd recommend you speak with a manager of the JCA program about broadening the scope of your portfolio. One comment about pay: our compensation package is competitive and consists of a base salary plus performance-based bonuses paid out twice a year. The bonuses are paid in a mix of cash and stock, which vests over three years.

Pros

Working here does have its advantages, especially if you are young and/or eager to learn new skills. You will get one or two years of fast-paced, intense immersion in a banking/finance environment. The bank is growing and growing fast. If you tend to vote Republican or like Trump, this is the place to work. They have a conference room named after Barry Goldwater. It appears to almost be a requirement to be a GOP partisan if you want to advance into management. The CEO seems like he knows what he's doing and is fairly accessible. Innovation is encouraged from management level on down.

Cons

Axos has a unique company culture which tends to put its employees through the grinder and more often than not sends them on their way voluntarily or not after a couple of years (just read previous reviews for further evidence on this.). Do not plan on making a lifetime job here (unless you love Trump and get promoted into mgmt) Management can sometimes be confrontational and often is not politically correct. Entire departments appear to be turned over every two years or so. Excessive bureaucracy due to all processes having to be documented and signed off by multiple layers of mgmt at least once or twice a year, along with the usual bank regulatory overhead. Frequent frustration and confusion due to "Office of the CEO" department, a group of mostly young new college grads who "double-check" and "suggest" new applications/company directions/processes that often conflict with other department directions (ie Jared Kushner in the Trump admin). Bonus structure is in stock, takes a while to vest and provides little additional compensation, despite what they tell you in interviews.

Thanks for sharing your impressions. Not sure how much insight readers can glean from the name of a single conference room; we also have conference rooms named after Teddy Roosevelt and Ben Franklin. But here's the bigger point: To the degree there is an ideological prism through which Axos views the world, it's not so much about politics as it is about economics -- and the conviction that maintaining a robust free-enterprise system is essential to the American Dream. Our meritocratic culture is the embodiment of that philosophy: we demand emotional investment, hard work and excellence.

Thanks for taking the time to share your views. We take all feedback seriously. Glad to hear you enjoyed working alongside our team members and that you appreciated the range of opportunities we provide. We're definitely interested in what our team members think about our response to the pandemic, which is why we conducted a company-wide survey earlier this spring. Significant majorities of our team members agreed that Axos provided a healthy and sanitary place to work, that Axos did a good job of educating team members about staying healthy, and that Axos was doing a good job of responding to the pandemic. we're sorry to hear you felt otherwise, and hope you find a better fit.
