Pros

Many employee benefits e.g. Share scheme, flexi time, 25 days holiday + bank holidays, sick pay. Varied work, good international travel opportunities, interesting projects.

Cons

Ethos between sites varies greatly. Employees based on customer bases tend to be ex-customer (military). As such, leadership style and man-management techniques are vastly different to the rest of the company. Policies and rules are 'bent' for select ex-officer individuals, leaving other employees at a disadvantage.

Organisational changes brought it downhill

Pros

I have gained experience working in this profession. Team members, colleagues are great. Comfortable working environment. Some interesting work.

Cons

Lots of public school types swaggering around in expensive suits who think they know it all and as a previous reviewer observes, plenty of people who like to talk a good job but are rarely found actually just doing it. HR haven't got a clue about anything - especially disability issues - and I had no faith in their ability to manage themselves let alone an entire workforce. Very poorly managed, no interest in improving work conditions despite several staff surveys showing terrible working conditions. Awful management with no empathy for the staff. Constantly changing the goal posts. Nepotism and absolutely no respect for members of staff. Very low morale. The management structure is confused and confusing. There are many 'Empire Builders' and staff who attend many meetings and talk about the job, but then do nothing, have no experience and have no respect from other staff. Since the organisational changes, staff morale at the coal face has plummeted due to uncertainty, lies, incompetent, spineless and ever changing managers.
