Pros

Salary, medical, vacation time are good. Accommodation at Dhahran is excellent.

Cons

Blame culture, Witch hunts , group punishment, management expect flexibility from workforce but offer none themselves, 48 hour week or else! Poor communication from mid and junior management.. Swingeing cuts to manpower put massive pressure on those who remain. Recently introduced visa and vacation issues, that cause problems with morale. 'Window or Aisle seat' approach, fit in or FO. Pension concerns over enforced retirement at 60. Failure to address or engage in many work force issues. Pick and choose Saudi or UK law depending which suits them best.

Pros

Decent salary for graduate scheme, plenty of extra stuff to get involved in. So much flexibility in terms of where to have placements and how long to have them. Good opportunities for career progression. Good group of friends established. Flexible working hours, half-day Fridays.

Cons

Town location isn't ideal. Work isn't always challenging. Some things promised/implied that seem to have fallen through. Sometimes it seems like having a degree hasn't helped much.

Pros

There are some great people to work with, who put in a lot of effort. If you're a self-starter and prepared to play the system (like anywhere else) you'll be given good opportunities at more senior grades it seems. BAE is a good brand name for your CV. Some areas of the business have interesting work and clients.

Cons

Seemingly unable to get the basics right. Torn between being a products or service business, without a coherent strategy. The obtuse marketing function has magnified the impacts of poor strategy, whilst the all-powerful operations function gleefully sends junior staff off to oblivion leading to high attrition and low morale. Other basics lacking and issues include: - Working or fit for purpose IT, for example third hand laptops. - Highly paid, lazy internal teams and some management as a hangover from the Detica days. - Undocumented and overbearing processes in some areas, with nothing in others. - No training for junior staff. In summary a business containing products, services and digital transformation was never going to become the 'cyber' arm of BAES regardless of how it was promised by senior management.
