Pros

Some very sharp people to learn from, flexible with teleworking. Lots of technology to get hands on experience with, if you have access.

Cons

Pay, lack of bonuses and promotions. Bonuses are reserved for management and are not allocated to the worker bees appropriately.

Pros

The pay is good. 401k vested from day one. 9/80 work schedule and that 60% of salary folks are ready to retire within 5 years, so there are possibilities.

Cons

Work force are ready to retire in 5 years or less. Continuous improvement is NON-EXISTENT in this company. No process at all, operations does whatever they want. I have no idea how they get vehicles out the door. When a program is behind schedule, they throw bodies at it and drive hours to the roof. They can't even follow the basic LEAN principles, which is 5S. If you like working for an organize, process driven, continuous improvement company, then this is definitely bot the place for you. As for benefits, its not the best, 2 weeks vacation until 5 years then you get 3. HSA deductible is 3k/ 6k and they only contribute up to $800 for family, other places I have worked contributed over $1500.

Pros

Good people to work with. Professional environment. As long as the funding keeps up, it is a relatively pleasant experience.

Cons

The budget controls everything. If the military is cutting back, so is BAE Systems. So training, bonuses, even your job is at risk and can be cut at any time based on available funding. I always told people I didn't have a job, I had a gig. When the money runs out, the gig is up. And so it came to pass with me after 4.5 years of service. I never had a good feeling about my job security while with them, knowing that everything could come to an end at any time without warning.
