Pros

Some team members are genuinely talented and collaborative

Cons

Leadership is inconsistent and can be dismissive of feedback, which creates a toxic environment. Management style can feel micromanaging yet unhelpful, leading to poor morale and high turnover.

Pros

BASF is a company that certainly tries to pride itself on safety for its workers. Pay is solid. The benefits are some of the best in the industry. The people I work with are more than willing to help me learn how the site works. There is a lot of learning opportunities if you are a first time engineer like myself!

Cons

Yes BASF does strive for safety, however, a few locations may overlook this just to get orders out so they can satisfy supply chain. The location I work(ed) at is very old and is currently running to failure just to save money. It is not ideal and certain solutions which look out for operator safety pushed away for short term solutions that end up causing more issues in the future. Burn out is real and it is not easy keeping up in the PGM sector of the business. There is almost always some work to do on the weekend due to product shipments being aligned strangely which makes the work life balance not great. Not a lot of diversity at my location but it could be different elsewhere. Management is not very popular at the site due to arrogance and poor communication. Some prerogatives can be confusing and end up leading to high amounts of workload that almost feels insurmountable. If you are looking to be a first time engineer, I recommend to brace yourself for getting your work cut out for you. You will learn a lot but it is taxing.
