Pros

The company has recently taken strong moves to promote work / life balance and allowed a more flexible work environment. It is a large corporation and it has a full benefits package including matching 401K contributions up to 4% of salary.

Cons

The high performance organization performance reviews / merit salary increases seem focused on justifying inflation level yearly salary increases. I am not sure if it is a downside, but the jobs are posted internally and externally at the same time - and it seems to discount experience within the company. Lastly, nobody seems to have heard of BASF - everyone seems to remember our old tapes division.

Pros

Largest chemical company in the world, with the most reach in the market place. Proud to work for a strong company that is into everything and well recognized. BASF is a good company compared to many others to want to work for. Benifits are very good and the management is very smart at the highest levels. Middle management at the Director level needs improvement since there are some individuals that should not be there, most note is in Detroit Automotive. Managers at the field level are excellent. Working for BASF is really an honor since they do care and want the best for employees if they can do it.

Cons

Eurpoean company, favor towards Germans and others over USA employees for advancement or jobs over seas.

Pros

* Benefits are good * Relatively stable, hard to get fired * Compensation is at least market average (definitely not leading)

Cons

Unless you’re a chosen favorite early in your career, you will get little to no professional development, and you will get raises which only keep up with inflation. You’ll be functional, nothing more.
