Pros

Outside of the branch level, people seem to really enjoy working for the company. BECU does really care about it's members, and let us make the best decisions for the member. I've learned a lot about lending, loan origination, deceased accounts, small business, IRA's and many other aspects.

Cons

However, with all the above that I learned...we're not compensated for that. The role is EXTREMELY diverse and has a lot of responsibility wrapped all into one role. But to be extremely proficient takes literally years. Also, I can't reiterate enough, over worked and underpaid. Most branches are understaffed. Finally, goals leaned more towards sales without being "fully" compensated. I came from another FI where I cross sold way less products and services and made nearly 20k more a year.

Pros

The employees are all very nice. Everyone has a great personality. BECU strives to search for people who have a great personality and put the customer (member) first. The treatment is very nice and the benefits are good if your single. The job itself is very easy if you come from a banking background. It is not a stressful job nor are you constantly getting reviewed daily or weekly about sales. It is all based on ratios.

Cons

Do not expect to get paid well here for anything manager level or below. You get low balled on your salary and the most you can expect for a raise is 3% of your salary per year. It is very difficult to become a top consultant and you have to work very hard for little money. The annual bonus is around 2k and gets taxed 37% on top of it. You get a xmas bonus from 100-500 a year as well. There is no motivation to work hard and the goals become increasingly difficult every year. If you want an easy job to go back to school whle working 40 hours, its perfect. If you are unemployed, its a great job to have and then move on to something better. I know becuase I use to work for a profit bank and made more in bonuses but had more stress. I would not recommend this to anyone who has worked in a profit bank before. You'll end up wondering why you are getting a huge paycut.
