Pros

Good salary and highest bonus % you will find in O&G. $2 lunch is awesome. Growing company with deep pockets to continue acquiring other companies.

Cons

Unsubstantiated rumor mill that management listens to and usually buys into and has ended up burning many people. Management does not stick up for their employees if it involves putting their neck out in any way. Very Big Brother-ish...monitor your comings and goings and computer usage even just moving files around. Many people have their work computer AND a personal laptop or Ipad to skirt being monitored. Very tight when it comes to expenses, unless you are in engineering. Company does a terrible job of growing organically due to what I perceived as underperformance in the exploration group, so luckily they have enough money coming in to grow through acquisition.

Pros

Benefits, Salary, Location, Flexible Fridays

Cons

Management is terrible. From my first week on the job, I knew I made a terrible mistake. They have leaders in positions who do not know how to lead. They seem to keep ineffective employees while getting rid of ones who actually do work. The performance evaluation review is a joke. The call it a conversation but its very one-sided and no accountability from management, to be honest during all reviews during the year. I found myself going into the end of year review blindsided and when I went to HR to discuss my frustration, they said there was nothing I could do about it. BHP fundamentally does not understand how to run oil and gas division. They are an accident waiting to happen. There process review session is a joke.

Stressful Jobs being shipped overseas Forced to Rotate to position I did not want Too Much who you know and not what you know on who stays and who is promoted. No Common Sense on how they apply the simplify strategy to SAP. Created Chaos.
