Pros

BHP pays very well and has excellent benefits. The top executives in the company have a great vision for the company and the company charter is something that is taken very seriously. I've gotten to work with some of the brightest stars in the business.

Cons

Middle management and supervisors do not care about the employees, there is no focus on career development, and rotations are all about who you know. While the top leaders in the company preach the charter values and have a clear vision of the future, middle management and supervisors have not bought in to the vision. Excellent people don't stay long due to poor morale.

Culture is changing

Pros

Great pay, Benefits, and challenging work. Work life balance is pretty good unless you are a manager. $2 lunches can't be beat. The micor managing culture is slowly fading away but there is a long way to go

Cons

Company seems to have no real direction for where it wants to go. Very little success has been achieved in exploration to bring in new reserves. Management is too risk adversive and not willing to take chances on smaller plays. Only seem interested in the next big thing instead of stringing together moderate successes. Overly process oriented which prevents being a first mover into areas and finding the next big thing.
