Pros

If you are lucky enough to be paid fairly it helps compensate for the headache and unhappiness.

Cons

Leaders lack follow through on changes causing people to burn out trying to get changes to occur.

Pros

BHP is a good company to work for, they pay well and have great benefits, have a lot of community involvement and support, and I truly believe they want to do the right thing for their investors and employees.

Cons

However, the functional areas (IT, Supply, HR) have been decimated the past 5 years with constant organizational changes and the whittling down of staff to a now more contractor based operating model. I spent 8 years there switching roles every time the org changed (6 in 5 years) and would have loved to have stayed on but at the end there are only a few spots remaining, and you will need to fit a political agenda to stay or move up the ladder.

Pros

Good pay and benefits, some very smart analyst-level co-workers

Cons

Abandoned "rotational" program in Petroleum, leaving people stranded in roles they did not chose or get hired into, having to "interview" to move around; favoritism on blatant display
