Pros

Excellent Pay, some of the best benefits, maternity leave is probably the best you can find, 401(k) matching dollar for dollar, Shareplus (company shares also match dollar for dollar with 3 year vesting period)

Cons

Management has a tendency to make you hate your job. Our Superintendent in our department takes shortcuts on safety in order for production to keep going. It is a big company so they could care less about you or how many years you can committed to the company. You bust your tail everyday, but if you mess up, it doesn't matter what you did in the past, they'll find a way to throw you under the bus. DO NOT GET HURT. Company will blame you no matter what you do. Typical shift = 2 hours paperwork, 0.5 hours for lunch, 4 hours of trying to find parts, and 1.5 of actual work.

Pros

BHP Billiton attempts to keep employees' well-being in mind as an individual, whether it be mental or physical health- understanding that has a much larger impact on the employee and their respective loved ones.

Cons

There are many pressures in this industry, and over time BHPB had to inherit the cost savings pressure in an extreme sense. In order to compensate for losses over several fiscal years, there was a high level of urgency to reduce costs, to the extent that employee morale was certainly negatively impacted.
