      Pros

      Hard working employees for the most part. High pay for people with no college degree if you can handle the hours and incompetent leadership.

      Cons

      CEO is out of touch. Elitist mentality. Needs to retire along with half of the exec team. Top down management is still alive and well at the railroad. Too much focus on college recruiting while neglecting and stifling change and progress raised by existing tenured employees. Work from home is non existent. Get real. People in admin/staff/support functions such as Finance can work anywhere. Millennials may be tricked into hiring on but quickly depart once they figure out their opinions and passion aren’t wanted or appreciated.

      I love the railroad but the current state of the industry is so negative & soul sucking.

      Pros

      I have so much pride working for a railroad that moves our country and the goods that drive our entire economy from fossil fuels, industrial products, food, electronics, clothing, the list goes on. There is a wide variety of jobs within the organization to constantly grow and learn new things.

      Cons

      The entire rail industry has been effected by precision scheduled railroading and the morale is feeling it. We had a record year in 2018 but based on how our leadership speaks we had the worst year ever & getting worse. It feels like we are working at Radio Shack based on the dooms day we hear from our top leaders. Sad when we used to have so much pride.

      Pros

      Great culture. Management is good. Overall, the organization highly incentivizes long-term employment as there is much to learn and operate between the office environment and the field operations.

      Cons

      Judging from my term so far at the company, moving up to a management position is generally few and far between. Might take a while due to others with longer lengths of tenure.
