Competitive Pay, Union, highly skilled workforce experienced co workers

Cons

Toxic atmosphere, Front line Managers, have effectively made this company uncomfortable place to work. From the constantly revised “Expectations” and belittlement of the working class. I regret my decision to join this company. While boasting Structure they fumble daily.

Pros

Decent pay good people 9/80 work week.

Cons

Management is only in it for the money and don’t care about the long term business or employees. Top management squeezes working staff for more hours just to increase their bonuses. HR staff are puppets for management and do not care about diversity. Avoid at all costs if you want a career...and they are constantly trying to short cut the US Navy, their number one customer...how can they justify that?

Pros

Average to above average pay. Good medical and dental insurance. Benefits include an on-site clinic with either a family physician or a nurse practitioner can be seen. Nurses to draw blood, give immunizations or allergy shots. 401K with matching. Fitness, health and safety events. Family events planned by the Employees Club. Non- union. Heated and cooled shop area. Training offered on-site. Tuition reimbursement. Safety shoes and safety glasses provided for use in shop areas. TV in break areas. Music at desktop computers. Great variety of foods in cafeteria at reasonable prices. Thursday $1 lunch.

Cons

Too much work -in-process (WIP). WIP takes up too much space and time. Though groups are interdependent on one another, there seems to be an unhealthy competition among them for resources. There is some in - fighting. Production areas need to allow for PM work during 1st shift to predict asset failures before they happen rather than asking for maintenance during off shift and holidays. Too much overtime. Good 0le' Boy network. (Play golf and live in Appomattox.)
