Pros
You could call them fox hole friendships, but the people I met and the relationships that have been formed are for life. This company employs some true aces ! Great collaborative experience as well as the opportunity to run on your own. The transition from Howard S. Wright to Balfourbeatty has been rough for the "old guard" but I believe this will make for a much more sophisticated and powerful construction management team from Seattle in the north to San Diego and Arizona in the south. Throughout the West Region this company is poised to grab a larger share of many markets by initial brand recognition (HSW) and deeper financial/management resources (BBC). HSW/BBC will be one of the top 5 companies within a couple years.
Cons
On this particular project, senior management doesn't seem to trust their middle management team to manage change orders. Absolutely everything is micromanaged down to the penny. No one knows what the budgets are and senior management is not sharing. It is very difficult to get a change order signed; incredibly frustrating.
