Pros

I'm glad to work at BambooHR because of the company culture. It's an interesting mix of encouragement that pushes you to be better while also requiring a healthy balance between your work and home life. Their philosophy is that if you stay balanced at home, you will be happier/more productive at work. We have enormous goals, but I'm culturally expected to spend time recharging with my family.

Cons

It's tough! Our team goals get bigger each month and there's not much time to take a breath and appreciate the cool thing we've accomplished before we're off trying to conquer the next mountain. Our whole company has doubled in size in the last 6 months. I worry that new employees will misunderstand the emphasis on work life balance for an "easy" place to work. We need folks joining the team wanting to make a meaningful difference in the world - not because they know they won't have to work 80 hours a week.

Pros

For many years, BambooHR was a genuinely great place to work. Most of the people are outstanding, and the company built its reputation on a culture of trust, autonomy, and empowerment. I made lifelong friendships here and learned a tremendous amount during my time with the company.

Cons

The BambooHR of today feels very different from the BambooHR that attracted so many employees in the first place. Over time, the culture has become more corporate and political, with decision-making increasingly centralized and less autonomy for managers and teams. The company that once encouraged ownership and trusted employees to help shape outcomes now feels more focused on top-down alignment and process. For those who value autonomy, influence, and being heard, this shift can be frustrating. Compensation and career growth have also become less compelling for long-tenured employees. I chose to leave because I no longer felt aligned with the leadership philosophy, the cultural direction, or the career path available to me. While I’m grateful for my time here, I would encourage candidates to understand that the culture many former employees speak fondly about may not be the culture they experience today.

Pros

The hybrid schedule was nice

Cons

I was there for 6 months. I'm not bad at my job. BambooHR's team for Business Development Representatives (The people who set up appointments for the AE's to sell). Politics is a huge aspect in this position, Also the dream for them was to have like 60 BDR's which ultimately and not enough bandwidth to support that level of workforce. The majority of the BDR's there struggle to hit, because management gives irresponsible goals to satisfy the Finance department. Trust the BDR's hate what's going on, Many have quit, and many are on PIP's because management is throwing goals that cannot be achieved at this org's current level. Toxic managers, great people, but when it comes to the paycheck they can be pretty nasty to people behind their backs. Same thing with the director of bdr's and sdr's. Will say genuine sounding things only to stick it you when your backs turned. Add the pay into this, and since almost none of the BDR's around (15-20) of us where hitting our accelerators and that's a huge deal, the competition we have with other companies coupled with the pay you get makes this job not worth it. If you're an AE you would be better off, and don't consider being an SDR, you will be making pennies.
