Pros

* Free health insurance premiums for family (at the price of a lower salary). This is probably a con if you are young, healthy, and single. * 90 minute lunch if you exercise * Culture is good if you're young. Fun first job out of school. * Office is okay. New office will be great in a couple of years.

Cons

* CEO is anti-vaxxer. He made it mandatory to return to the office recently and tried to incentivize returning during peak-pandemic, but refused to implement any kind of health screening. No masks were allowed for a while because he didn't want to show fear. Some employees have been open about not getting the vaccine and you may have no choice but to sit next to them. WFH is not allowed at all * Prayers to Jesus during company meetings. You don't have to participate, but it's awkward when you know your manager is also a devout Christian and they look over at you not praying. * The same few tend to get promoted regularly and they will promote anyone with the right attitude, it seems. There are many underqualified people in management positions. There is a lot of talent there but they don't do enough to keep it. * Salary is well below market. The health insurance offsets this to a degree. * No stock purchase plans for employees. No bonuses. * Desks and chairs are uncomfortable. Invest in nicer furniture at the new office.

overworked & underpaid

Pros

-Love the people at Bandwidth. Truly good people who care about each other - The benefits are good - Nice office, and building a new HQ that will be great

Cons

- Extremely underpaid compared to the job market and industry. 20k+ pay gap. - Very little remote work flexibility, you need to have an excuse or reason deemed valid by leadership to WFH. This promotes a toxic culture of comparing personal lives, and awarding WFH to those who "need it" most. - Micro-managed by leadership. - No transparency. It is clear from these reviews that people are leaving Bandwidth at an alarming rate, and leadership has not once addressed it directly. -Shameful amount of diversity.

Pros

- Most everyone was willing to help when needed - Benefits, although now are on par for the most part with the rest of the industry - Learned a lot in my time here - work/life balance

Cons

By the time I left, this was a completely different company. It may be easy to go back and blame it on the IPO and it’s associated growing pains, but these are still decisions that were made by management, even if pressure was felt from investors. While I was not in sales, they were like a loud, obnoxious fraternity that made up half of the company by the time I left - this was evident during company gatherings and the holiday parties, and is just one example of how trying to grow and hire too fast can go wrong. Other departments had this happen as well. As others have said, the pay here is significantly lower in a lot of departments. Do not come here if you’re not comfortable with your starting salary. If you think you’ll start out low and will make up for it through recognition and promotions, think again. The closest correlation to the pay structure was pretty much based on age/tenure (cloaked behind the word “experience”) and not actual contributions. There are a lot of discrepancies in who is getting recognized undeservedly while others are doing great/hard work and get overlooked. There are a lot of my colleagues who were great contributors to the company and it’s culture that have left as well. I left during COVID but I’m sure the resistance to a hybrid/remote model has to be the commitments to building a new office and hiring within the area, but you can have all of that while also trusting your employees with the flexibility to work where they do best. I’m sure I’m going to get a robotic, cookie cutter response by HR on this but I sincerely hope these are being taken concerns into account.

We're sorry to hear that your experience was not positive. It's true that our unique culture is built on the close collaboration and creative energy of working in person--and it's always been that way. That’s why we’re building a new headquarters campus with great amenities to continue growing in a great environment of being together. At the same time, we encourage Bandmates to reach out to their manager or People Services to address special circumstances.
