Pros

I've been at Bandwidth for 8 months now and I can't believe some of the negative comments on here. The majority are from Raleigh, so I don't think this should speak for the feeling of the whole company. Particularly in London, we have a high degree of flexibility - we've been asked to come in 3 days which is pretty standard with other companies now. There's lots of pros to list - - Great culture, with people who work hard and care about their jobs - who also have a laugh!! - Amazing work life balance, you're encouraged to switch off after hours and not be contacted on annual leave - Lots of team events, free food, drinks etc. - Beautiful office, lots of space and desks - Growing company with lots of opportunity

Cons

- We are a smaller satellite office, communication, messaging and processes aren't always consistent. This needs to improve for us to deliver on our big targets - David Morken (CEO) hasn't visited London yet.

Pros

My immediate manager and that person's manager are great (there are three managers above them before you get to the CEO in a company of 700+ employees).

Cons

The CEO makes mandates policy changes in a vacuum without consulting (or even notifying) managers at Bandwidth. If you’ve ever lived with an abuser who springs things on you to keep you unbalanced—welcome to the Bandwidth work culture. One personal project of the CEO is ending remote work. In the middle of the pandemic he mandated a return to in-person work, lost most of the senior developers at the company, and today has no clue that this is why his company is failing to meet objectives. As if to reinforce this point, in August 2022 he mandated a return to in-person work once again (Bandwidth’s offices are a miserable half-wall cubicle farm that ensures low productivity...now with COVID). Again, no managers were consulted and existing policies about remote work were ignored (are the gone? still in force? No manager can really say). In short: anything promised to a prospective employee about their work at Bandwidth can be changed or ended at any time because only the CEO is making decisions about policies at this company.

Pros

Benefits are the only plus side

Cons

I’m not sure where this influx of 5 star reviews are coming from now. Like many others, I thought bandwidth was a place I’d stay at for more than a year. I can’t believe how horribly wrong I was. I left my old job seeking a better one here and what I got was much, much worse. They pulled me in within the first couple of months with the free lunches, the remote work, etc. Once the rose colored glasses came off, I saw this place for what it was. Let me just preface this also by saying - maybe this is just the specific department I’m in. But who knows - I never got a chance to even get to know anyone else because all of these “community events” and “bandmate meet ups” you see plastered all over LinkedIn - I never knew about any of these events going on. If there was, well I can guarantee I couldn’t attend it because I have to stay glued to my computer all day, every day. There’s just no better way to explain this job other than: it’s extremely over demanding. Management and coworkers are extremely cliquey and nothing is confidential. It’s sad. We all knew we would have to go back into the office at some point, but 5 days a week is insane and outdated. Doing it for the sake of company culture ? Nobody even talks to each other in the ‘cubicles’ when I am in the office. Every time i go in, everyone’s wearing headphones and working like we are in a factory. “be fruitful and multiple” posters everywhere of employee’s kids. Creepy. The new campus? Ok… I’d take my mental health over a new soccer field I will never use any day. This job has had such a huge negative impact on my mental health it’s insane. Not only are you glued behind a computer, you’re dealing with rude customers who literally say they expect you to bend over backwards for them. I will do all I can to provide a good experience but bending over backwards? I’ll pass. Management doesn’t do anything about the way customers talk to you. Unless you want stress, no personal life because you’ll be working crazy late shifts, don’t bother. There’s better options out there.
