Pros

Health care, 90 minute lunch, overall fun crowd.

Cons

There is a lot going on here. As mentioned in a lot of the recent reviews, people are saying the same things but I don't see any real change here. I came to Bandwidth in 2019 and thought it was going to be somewhere I would retire. As my first corporate experience everything was great at first. A fun crowd, long lunch, and good benefits. These things quickly became obsolete. I was barely making ends means with a well below average salary for this area and market. That has not changed. The real issue was when Covid hit. We all went home and work continued. In June of 2020 the CEO got on an all hands meeting was boasted about how the Bandwidth office truly never closed and people should come on back for free lunch. Mind you vaccines were not even developed at this point. We heard this message for month. It put managers in an awkward spot because no one wanted to go to the office but yet they had to talk about it. Later in 2020 people started going back in and multiple times a week we would get an email about positive cases from people in the office. The same theme continued throughout 2021. There was no vaccine or mask policy in office, so you wonder why people were getting sick. It was all about in person work. Around this time last year with Covid very much so still in the picture an office mandate was put in place. This was met with a ton of backlash leading to Morken saying if people didn't want to abide by this, they can find another job. Which plenty of people said okay and left on short notice, leaving the company to scramble. These were not just entry level people looking for an easy way out. These were directors, VPs, and C level career employees who said it's not worth it. They didn't want to play David Morken's game anymore. He backed off and we went hybrid. Things were starting to look up through 2022 until now. Morken simply can't shake the in office thing. He again has stated that if people don't want to be in office then they can go somewhere else. This is absolutely mind blowing to me, why David Morken is so obsessed with being in the office. He is all about the strong Christian family values, but yet wants people to be away from their families for up to 10 hours a day (if you factor in commute)?? I understand there is a fancy new office being built and you want butts in seats. But that is simply not corporate America anymore. If we've learned anything, work is getting done and done well while at home. People are happier because they have flexibility in the day. So many of my co workers are interviewing or getting ready to leave for other companies for remote work alone. Some are planning to just leave with no plan because what Morken is asking is just no worth it. It is not worth the low salary, gas money, and boring office, just to be in person again. The promise of flexibility is not clear so don't let people fool you with that. For those of you looking at a job with Bandwidth, go somewhere else for the sake of your own time. All these random 5 star reviews are not legit. If they are real, they are from the sales department. All of the money and attention gets put into sales. If you are not in sales than you get pushed to the side.

We fully realize everyone is entitled to their own opinions about our return to an in-person environment and have no argument or judgment toward those who choose another way. We also understand this platform is a preferred outlet for many. However, if you are indeed a current Bandmate, we’d ask that you consider expressing some of your concerns with your leader or business partner as well. They are always available and open for discussion.

Pros

Overall pretty solid company. I really enjoyed the investments the company made in helping new employees learn the business and products. Telecom isn’t something most software sellers have a general knowledge of and leadership there recognizes this. To that end the onboarding process is fairly intensive and every week there are available learning sessions that anyone can attend. The other employees there are great (from my experience) and it seems the company focuses on finding and hiring really exceptional people. Other perks of the job are catered food on occasion and pretty fun events thrown on behalf of the company.

Cons

IMO telecom can be a fairly difficult product to sell. From an enterprise perspective, DMs are not in the slightest focusing on their telecom as a potential area to save money or enhance their current standing. If you’re working in the enterprise realm you’ll find yourself calling telecom/network managers constantly with little results until you happen across one that is experiencing a problem right then and there and even then the amount of effort for the lift and shift to Bandwidth’s network will turn people away. So buckle up you’ll be grinding to find those few gems. With all that said I think focusing on the software/API side of things offers a lot of value for SMB/MM. The other con that comes to mind is the lack of work flexibility. CEO is a super nice guy but believes work should be done in person. Lastly there is only one mens bathroom on the sales floor and you’ll find yourself lining up with the other guys to wait your turn.
