Pros

- Company paid for medical and dental health insurance for yourself, your spouse and all of your children - 90 minute lunches - 20 PTO days - Brand new nature inspired office with an onsite Montessori based childcare center, walking trails, sports fields, cafeteria, gym, a customer experience center with meeting rooms designated specifically for when customers come on site, and an barn style event center - Most of the BANDmates across the company are awesome, extremely driven and really care about your success in addition to their own.

Cons

- If you are not based in the Raleigh-Durham area or plan to move there upon getting hired, do not work here. It’s mandatory 5 day in office culture. - Salary is lower compared to other companies hiring either remotely or in the Raleigh-Durham area (I think it’s because of the all paid for medical and dental insurance) - It’s currently a tough environment to sell in. Bandwidth is behind on a lot of products that Twilio, Telnyx and Sinch have already had put in the market for years. Oftentimes I’ve seen BANDmates have to resort to beg customers for business based on lowering the price. For now, Call Assure and Maestro are the only two differentiator products Bandwidth has in market. - Voxbone systems and the Dashboard are not fully integrated yet (could have been because they haven’t found the appropriate resources to remedy this at the time). - Although Bandwidth wants customers to come visit them at the new office, they will only cover meals and maybe a fun event; flights and hotel costs are on the customer.

Pros

* “hacker hours” each sprint that (when allowed) can help you set aside time to look into new technologies or learn something new * pay was good

Cons

* boss would get another coworker so mad at me for things that happened 2-3 years prior when that employee wasn’t even working at BW. The employee would come into meetings and be upset with me about things that happened a long time ago. * incredibly toxic in-office work environment. Boss talked smack about others in the company and past employees. * boss harassed me for wearing a religious shirt that wasn’t Christian (BW is super religious). Told me that he harassed me so I wouldn’t wear it anymore. * boss told me I wasn’t allowed to go to HR. When others went to HR about things they were seeing happening to me, I got retaliated against and made fun of in front of my peers. * forced in-office culture 5 days/week * WFH has to be approved ahead of time if you had an appointment. The appointment had to be for yourself (ie, no kid or pet appointments) otherwise you are forced to use PTO. * upper management refusing to allow us to use AWS when AWS solution was cheaper for the company * boss cornered employees and forced them to answer uncomfortable questions when the employee put up boundaries and said no. * inconsistent expectations about work hours. Company wants you to have a work-life balance but team dynamic was that if you didn’t work OT that you wouldn’t get promoted, even if you got all your work done within 40 hours. *consistently denied lunch and definitely couldn’t use 90-min lunch for workouts.
