No "opportunity," just turn-and-burn.

Pros

Potential to be able to pay your bills maybe five years down the road. Maybe.

Cons

Here's how Bankers operates: They hire anyone who can fog up a mirror, then they give you the worst leads in the history of the world and encourage you to use bait-and-switches to sell mediocre products. Maybe you get lucky and sell a couple, but you'll make maybe $250 because the commission structure is abysmal. Eventually, you get burned out, you go broke, and you quit. They berate you and harass you for "not working hard enough" or "not taking advantages of this opportunity." Then your client list is given to one of the guys who's been working there longer than you - the "veteran agents," and they up-sell your clients and that's how they make their money without doing any prospecting. One agent in this office makes $250k+ a year. Three more make $80k+ a year. EVERYONE ELSE in the office is literally starving - food stamps, welfare, etc, but they hang in there because they want the "opportunity" and they think they're not working hard enough. Look, these people work plenty hard. But it's a scam. Don't buy it.

Make sure you have enough of your own money before accepting a job here.

Pros

The company does a great job at setting you up with the training that you need and a few solid leads to get your business started. You will always have a senior agent to travel with you until you are ready to go out and sell on your own. They generally let you work an area that is close to your home.

Cons

The biggest challenge for me was there is no base salary with this company. Everything you earn comes off of commission. I didn't realize until after taking the job, how much of my own money was going to be required to get the ball rolling. Also gas and mileage all come out of your own pocket. It really drained a lot of my savings to get going with the company. Also with it only being commission, if you don't make any sales for two weeks, you can't pay your bills. Also the only clientele that they work with is senior citizens, who rarely will change their mind on who is gonna handle their retirement.

Pros

The training is very good -- but considering that turn-over is high and there are ALWAYS new people being brought in, there'd be no excuse if it weren't. The other agents were helpful and very willing to share information and insights.

Cons

They tell you that you'll go out on appointments with veteran agents so you can start earning right away. Perhaps. The catch is that YOU have to book the appointments, and any commission earned will be split 50-50 with the field trainer. But what they don't tell you is that the field trainer makes an additional 40% as an incentive for taking out new agents. The leads are abysmal. They are re-recycled, and you will NEVER get leads on an exclusive basis; they all are shared. Yet you are charged for them. You also are charged for office supplies, use of a cubicle, and the telephone. And, speaking of phones, be prepared to make hundreds of calls each week along with knocking on doors, The commission structure (BTW, it's 100% commission, with no benefits) is impenetrable, and no one can accurately predict what they will make on a given sale and when they will be paid in full. The products are a bit over-priced, and sales are very hard to come by. As a result, of the 17 people in my training class, only 1 of us was still there after one year. My sales manager berated me and accused me of not being totally committed to Bankers and selling their products because I had to take a part-time job evenings and weekends just to have some steady cash flowing IN instead of it all flowing OUT.
