Pros

I get paid to help change people's lives. Although you have to put in the time, it is flexible enough to work around having a young child and all that comes with that. The company provided training to help get started is fantastic, best in the industry. They give you the basics you need to get started and even give you a trainer that is willing to give up half of their commissions (and any renewals resulting from your training for the rest of their careers). I have been here long enough (3 years) to finally be able to say with confidence that I will be successful for the rest of my life thanks to my career with Bankers, and I plan on staying with them the rest of my career!

Cons

The first year is very difficult, it requires a lot of effort put into your own training as well as great effort to develop your client base. The second year is a little less difficult because you finally REALLY know what you are doing. This difficulty I am sure is industry-wide. Most new agents will not make it because they are so conditioned to do the minimum required to get a paycheck, they do not put in the effort required to become successful. This career is not for the lazy!

Pros

Some agents are caring and helpful. Most of the veterans will latch onto you when you are making good sales so they can split the commission with you...there are the epitome of vultures. Management only love you when they also get a slice of the pie, they are the senior vultures. I loved my clients and stayed longer than I should have. Damn near went bankrupt because of the insanity of this career.

Cons

See above, you work 7 days a week, no family life, 100% commission-based, and each year you to pay for leads, $400-500 per month BEFORE you make any sales. It’s like working behind the 8-ball, killing yourself just to get appointments and sales you have to share with trainers, managers. In all the time I was there, 1 trainer took me out on a med sup sale...and wow, I got to share $200 with him. The rest of the time you are door knocking, people hate it when you bother them at home. You also pay for leads, and again try to get appointments on non-stop cold calling. Meetings a few times a week, upper management can be so cruel to people trying to keep themselves above water. Stressful, pressure oriented and you drive your life away.

Pros

The only pro is that I met other agents that will remain friends after we have all left this scam of a company.

Cons

Cons are they hire anyone that is willing to be there. The managers at this branch are neither qualified or experienced. The Branch manager is full of himself and runs the branch like a Cult. Either you are there and buy into his life 100% or you are casted out. The other 2 managers seem to hate each other and constantly contradict one another. There is no "Real" manager with management training or education. The branch manager claims to be an attorney that attended Harvard, Yale and Berkley, however he has very poor grammar and can't be located on the alumni pages. All of this is relevant because it shows the extent that this group of people will lie to a new agent. They do not care about the agent being successful all they want is to split applications with new agents and get them to sell to all of their friends and family so they can get a part of the commission. If a new agent leaves after a few months they don't care because they made income off of them. They will tell you they want you to be their partner but they will not help you when you really need it. The training and lectures are repeated over and over and you are expected to make 200 calls a day to people they claim they sent information out too but as time goes on you realize that is also not true. You will also be cut out of commission by the branch F.A. as well as the Unit Field Trainers you will do the work and suffer and they will walk away with the rewards. Try the Laguna , Long Beach, Pasadena, Los Angeles or Riverside branch, run from the Brea branch....Scott Perry you have a LOT of work to do in Brea.
