Pros

Very customer focused; senior management is accessible; striving to improve employee satisfaction and morale; committed to constantly improving as an organization.

Cons

Banner is a little behind in systems and salaries in some areas; managers and supervisors would like additional management training and development; it's almost like there are two headquarter locations.

Bad management, low wages

Pros

Bonuses are good for aggressive sales people.

Cons

I have been a teller at the bank for 4 years. I currently do a job 2 positions above the one I hold. They won't promote me to the position I should be because they would have to pay me more money. New tellers are currently getting hired at a higher wage then I am getting. The social environment is very clicky. If anyone in management decides they don't like you it will be impossible to move up in the company. Gossip flows through the bank almost instantaneously. Everything is about sales. We do a ton of pointless meetings about sales. Every week we do individual meetings about sales, group meetings about sales, meetings about specific conversations you have with clients in regards to sales. The way meetings are done makes me feel like they were designed for children.

Pros

Banner isn't too big of a bank, so you can actually interact with folks who matter in the organization. Very experienced, intelligent people running the bank. The bank is more on the conservative side, which is part of the reason we made it through the downturn.

Cons

It seems difficult to advance in your career. Several retired people were brought back in to help after the recession in 08. Until these folks retire, upward movement has been minimal. There are few younger employees to take over once the big wave of retirement happens. However, my biggest complaint about working here is how many people sit around, gossip, and don't actually work. That old 80/20 rule holds true in this bank.
