Pros

Depending on job type, compensation is great especially for Bismarck. Some roles get paid outstanding & have "golden handcuffs". Other roles, top performers leave pretty fast as they're underpaid. Has great work life balance.

Cons

Top management, lots of politics. It's a move slow, don't make changes environment. Culture was very good many years ago. People often claimed to "bleed blue" & considered it a family environment. It's been killed off sadly.

Pros

Basin Electric cares about its employees. It gives back to the community and offers employees many opportunities to give back as well. Our cooperative business model puts people before profits and holds true to our values of accountability, integrity, innovation and community commitment. The pay and benefits are extremely competitive and the family-focused environment provides for work-life integration and flexibility.

Cons

Tough to find any. I bleed Basin blue, and all my coworkers do as well.

Skewed to long term workers

Pros

Benefits are middle of the road, on the plus side: pension if you stick it out, good 401k, and plenty of paid time off. Flex time and work from home occasionally if your supervisor allows it.

Cons

Everyone is stuck in the good old days. Continuing to do things the way they've always been done "just because" and despite recently poor financial performance. Management lies and make poor decisions with no repercussions. Middle of the road benefits for industry. No bonus or incentive pay. Pay is low end of industry standard. Experience (years served) is everything, few promotions, everyone gets same raise skewing pay to lazy long time workers. Almost cultish culture
