Pay is decent if you fight for it

Retail politics, management don't appreciate you, play favorites, if you don't work hard and skim by management will love you, poor management skills, will sell employees out for their yearly bonus, poor communication, strict guidelines

Pros

Family atmosphere, friendly long time associates, most have been there many years, they are very helpful. Excellent employee discounts. Very little micro management that I have seen in my years there. A good solid Store Manager, seems to really care about the common employee.

Cons

Some managers pay very little if any attention to the few employee's who work very hard and stay for years. Younger short term employee's who fail to 'get it' and never seem to be interested in doing much work get all the accolades and awards from management, hard to figure. This does not imply that all department managers operate this way, most are great bosses, and a pleasure to work for, a few are very hard to communicate with due to personal issues I suppose. Its retail, and a high pace environment, so its sink or swim, I know pay will be low as it is in most retail.
