Good benefits. Charity donation match.

Cons

Poor managers and leadership. Manage is performed from top to bottom. People put in managerial positions are based on political endeavors rather than on the "right person for the position". Bullying, intimidation, and harassment is the culture of managers. Human resources and other political person(s) will back-up managers when "messes" happen in the organization. Poor ethics as it pertains to judgment, but their ethics are based on the law, which only helps to protect the company. I would not recommend Battelle Memorial Institute to anyone unless you're desperate for a job, then I would only recommend a temporary stop-gap.

Equipment was moderately new. the culture within the employees is fine. One can learn to work around all of the mismanagement to get ones job done.

Cons

Too much management needing support. Management under-trained and under-talented. Personnel that should be assisting others get their job done, like Human Resources or contracts, have no reason to bother to do their jobs.

Pros

Interesting science (sometimes). Decent instruments. Legacy of company will serve one's resume well. Cost of living in Columbus is not bad, so salary is adequate.

Cons

Battelle has a long legacy of being an honest, diligent science company. Then it got highjacked, and is now a company that will say and do whatever it takes to get a gov't contract. Company has not only put out fraudulent message, and sometimes data, (breaking their own code of ethics) but now goes to deliberate lengths to purge all criticism. This will result in a tragedy eventually. That's top level view. For details this company is terrified of IT, and handicaps itself in the way it handles IT, data, etc. Company hires way too many people based on diversity, and thus gets far too many people who can't do the work properly.
