Pros

The employee discount and other job perks are pretty good, they do allow for times off that are much needed, they do try to take honest feedback from employees to make the work enviroment better, they also attempt to give you all the tools to do your job. The training is pretty good for each department, but is still lacking. Best Buy does provide great growth opportunity for those who are willing to go outside of their store to find it. Their benefits are pretty good and they're always looking to make them better. They also are now trying to become more involved with the community, which to me is a huge plus. The pay they offer is adequate for most.

Cons

There are no bonuses for sales for the sales staff, and some leadership within the store can be weak at times. The fact that they only look once or twice a year to get feedback from employees is a big negative, those lines of communication should always be open. They really push for sales considering we're not commisioned based and try to make things "grab and go" for cusomters. I think communication is really good, but it was better earlier. And the morale of others can actually drag your morale down.

Pros

Working at Best Buy gives you the ability to stay up to date on the latest and greatest that technology has to offer. Also the employee discount on some products is very good. But being in a non-commissioned sales environment is beneficial to perfecting your people skills and how to negotiate with people. You also get to learn how to work in an environment where you have to rely on your fellow employees to help you accomplish your goals. You have job security being that Best Buy is the number one consumer electronics company in the world, the even have their own NASCAR Driver. Some other good reasons to work at Best Buy is that there are great opportunities to advance. Every year new stores are opening and that means more management staff is required and also district and territories either are expanding or being created which means higher level/ higher paying jobs are being created as well.

Cons

Some of the downsides to working at Best Buy is having to put up with ignorant, rude, idiotic customers. The old saying "the customer's always right" is usually followed sadly. Some people just don't deserve a 10% off discount because they shop at Best Buy 3 times a year and spend 200 dollars there. To many customers come in thinking that they are entitled to a discount when in fact they aren't, since employees are not commissioned based we can't just give people a discount. another downside is that some of the people in charge are stupid. Also even though you are not paid commission sometimes the sales floor is treated as if you are commission based, and if you don't attach everything than you aren't doing a good enough job. Some good salesmen get promoted to positions of authority and sadly they can not execute those jobs well at all.

Pros

Best Buy is a really fun and exciting company to work for. One of the things I enjoy most about working for Best Buy is that I get to see all the latest and greatest technology. What could be more fun than seeing all the newest and coolest toys available? Best Buy is also a family oriented company. They take a good interest in your well being and the well being of your family. I also feel like my fellow employees are like family. We take care of each other no matter what the need. Best Buy is also a FUN company to work for. I have never had more fun at a job in my life. While we are very competitive with each other and the customer is always our number one focus we know how to have fun at the same time.

Cons

I personally don't have any downsides to working for Best Buy. I absolutely love every aspect of the company. Some downsides others may not like are: 1. Amount of time that you are required to commit to or work during the holidays. During the holidays it's crazy at Best Buy. The stores are always busy from open to close. While I enjoy the chaos of the holidays, some find it stressful and overwhelming. Customers can be very demanding and are always in a hurry during the holidays. 2. If you plan on Best Buy being your career the company expects you to make them your number one priority. If they need you to work late, you will. If some one calls in and they need you to come in and work on your day off, you will. Some employees find the work schedule of full-time or higher to be too demanding. Me, I have no life so I have nothing better to do :) Plus if you are asked to come in or work late that means overtime!!
