Pros

Could be some good benefits after 3 months probationary period. Hour long lunch and breaks.

Cons

The staff is not welcoming to new hires. So like High School.. They have their cliques and few are friendly to the new person. Unkind and rude when a new employee is training. Treated me like I was stupid when I made mistakes while training. To the point I hated going to work and was always nervous. Felt I was in trouble every time I made a mistake in training. Part time, not enough money, no way to advance because Bi-mart only hires a certain number of full time employees. Schedule was always weird. You get your schedule every two weeks which makes it hard to make doctor appts or any other kind of appointments. I was always having to cancel appointments I made in advance because I would get scheduled to work. Is the stress worth it? Is the unkindness of the staff toward the new person worth it? Is the pressure to know everything 4 weeks after you start a new job worth it? Nope.

Pros

Generally speaking, most people working there are nice ESOP (employee-owned stock plan) was nice but takes 5 years to vest Smaller company than big box stores allowed for more interaction with senior management Good work-life balance (if you have the right job with the right manager; otherwise it can be terrible)

Cons

As good as their senior leadership is, they are stuck and stubborn in the old ways of doing things. For example: -Almost all technology is old. This makes jobs harder, less accurate and less efficient. They are finally more open to newer stuff but are often turned off by the cost and want to find ways to cut corners to get it. -Outdated policies. Male employees at the stores must wear ties, even in the summer. This is a bad look, as most guys wear the same tie over and over again. They are also required to wear vests and dress clothes. The idea of having your staff look professional is fine until a store-level employee can't afford to invest in nice clothes only to have them ruined. The result is that your employees end up with dirty/old clothes, which look worse than if you relaxed the dress code a bit. Cashier's can't drink water at their checkstands. Really?! -Extremely frugal. Being very cheap is likely the only reason they're still profitable. However, the non-competitive pay at many positions, lack of investing in existing facilities and equipment, mediocre benefits and terrible travel pay (mileage, meals and hotels are way below industry norms) are starting to come back to bite them.
