Pros

Discount is great, cost+10% is really good especially on seasonal items that have a higher mark up.

Cons

The company is gutting their sales floors of labor and management and crew are facing the consequences, 21% down in stock valuation this year is insane. Customer service is first so if you tell a customer "no" or ask them to leave, you have to write a report about WHY you had to tell a customer no or to leave after they screamed in your face for 15 minutes about looking at video you can't release because they want to fire you for daring to ask a customer to leave the building. Unfortunately, this company is likely to go under in a couple years time. Last year it was 10% down, they reduced christmas bonuses and gave 30 cent raises, closed Cascade Farm & Outdoor and unannounced, they closed a Bi-Mart in Vancouver without any notice. Now it's 21% down, how many more people are losing their jobs before they fold entirely?

Pros

Great work environment, small company and they provide benefits for full time employees after a 90 day probation period. I worked in the pharmacy as an assistant and it was great.

Cons

Only negative was how the company handled the closing of the pharmacy. For a company that uses their “employee owned” status as a pro for working there they did not take into consideration the opinions or the consequences to livelihood of closing the pharmacy. In their release statement to the public they said after much consideration with their employee owners but that was not the case. We were told less than one month the pharmacy was closing and the severance came with so many conditions it essentially worked out so the severance was not actually paid. As a pharmacy assistant I wasn’t even offered severance, only that I can join the front end as a cashier which I didn’t take since I was working on becoming a pharmacy technician. I understand the loss of profit in an independent pharmacy and am not upset with their decision to close it but more how they handled the aftermath. One of the employees in the office was heard on the phone telling a pharmacy manager that the pharmacy clerks (who some had been in the pharmacy for over 15 years) didn’t deserve severance because they were just cashiers.

Pros

1 hour lunches, 2 15 minute breaks, friendly co-workers who are not managers.

Cons

-Was not pleased with the management at the Bend location, managers in the red vests take their job a little TOO seriously for a discount store. I don't recommend this place at all to anyone. -Really outdated store, they play awful music all day long, very loud music as well. Store looks like it's from 1970.
