Good Place to Learn. Bad Place to Grow.

Pros

No need to be in the office all the time, very little micromanagement, and the people you work with on a day-to-day basis are fantastic. You'll have the chance to learn a lot because leadership will expect things to get done, and you won't have much direction so it's great if you're a "learn as you go" type of person.

Cons

There have been frequent layoffs and leadership changes, and it doesn't feel as though the company knows what it wants to be. Little desire to make things right amongst top leadership. Leadership doesn't understand importance of sales & marketing, so there is little support for those teams. Teams are very small (between 2-10 people) so there are very few opportunities for upward mobility. That said, you will constantly be given more tasks that management will expect done, without any monetary compensation in return.

Needs Direction

Pros

Some of the best people I've ever worked with are/were at BNR. Flexible work environment. Everyone willing to help.

Cons

Suffers from not enough strategic direction and communication from top leadership. Directors and VPs have left in droves because of senior leadership struggles. CEO makes decisions without consulting expertise of his leaders then expects them to implement poorly thought out initiatives they never helped shape. In short, they have been set up to fail. And it all flows downstream with everyone feeling defeated.

Pros

It is a "selling people's time for money" company (consulting and training). Within that company category, the Ranch is a fun, humane place to work. It's not a bodyshop, trying to sell you for maximal value and then lay you off once the gig is done. The Ranch seems to care for the people long-term. The work day is very flexible - so long as you get your work down and you communicate well with your coworkers, who cares when or where you do your work. The benefits aren't extravagant, but important. Health coverage and 401(k) is are very important to me.

Cons

Sometimes you're beholden to client demands that might be bizarre. Sometimes the main office can be loud.
