Pros

Great product. Growing company. Free weekly lunch. Decent office space.

Cons

Inexperienced management all levels. They promote/hire based more on technical than management experience skills -- makes for a stressful environment as new managers learn management skills on the job in a high performance environment. Overall poor communication at all levels. Stressfull and non-efficient. Below market pay for existing employees. Poor performance salary review system. No bonus/401k.

Pros

Free drinks and snacks

Cons

They emphasize culture by planning company wide events, but if you are a “ninja” who is scheduled to work, you will not have the chance to participate. While the rest of the departments went to the holiday party, ninjas who were scheduled to work were not able to go, no exception. You are allotted 10 minutes of away time From your computer. Every other minute must be accounted for. You are basically just going from call to call. I got yelled at one day for spending too much time on notes, and not getting to the next call quicker. This department is completely separate from the other departments at BC. Ninjas only have 30 mins to hang out during the company happy hour before they have to return to their computers, while the other departments hang out or go home.

Pros

Free lunch on Tuesday, beer on Friday

Cons

Corrupt HR dept. Organization repeatedly rewards slimy sales reps who put up fake inflated sales numbers, only to pay the price later. In the mean time, the quotas of honest reps will be increased, and they can't achieve quota. High turn over rate for tech support and sales, and upper management. Marketing jobs are safer because its an absolute joke. If you are a self respecting person and value yourself, don't work for this company just because the culture looks "fun."

I regret to hear that you were disappointed with your experience at BigCommerce. Our Values are the core principles upon which BigCommerce was built, guiding what we do and how we do it. We expect honesty and transparency from all employees and are committed to doing what’s best for our customers and our company. Moreover, Act with Integrity is a cornerstone Value and we take ethical concerns very seriously. Our quotas are identical for all reps in the same role. Our turnover rate in Sales is at an all-time low and is below industry averages. Through our Open Door Policy and anonymous Values Hotline, we encourage all employees to raise concerns without fear of retaliation so that we may quickly and fairly address them. Our recent internal surveys indicate the sales team morale is extremely high. I welcome you to contact me directly to discuss the matters you’ve raised and wish you the best in your future endeavors.
