Pros

- CLIA team are all hard workers, they TRULY are the heart of the company - new laboratory is significantly larger and spacious - it's a startup, so really allows frequent opportunity to interface with both members of other departments and also up the management chain

Cons

- compensation is low, especially for non-management roles. - peer review cycle is extremely biased, results in resentment and creates toxic work environment - Managers frequently get promoted every review cycle and individual contributors are ignored

Pros

Coworkers are hardworking and friendly Amazing supervisors Catered lunch Various opportunities

Cons

-Usual HR. Don't trust anything unless you have it in writing. Verbal promises are unenforceable. Their only job is to protect the image of the company/finances. -Onboarding is disorganized. They will ask you to come at your start time when HR starts closer to 9-10 -only a tiny amount of employees per cycle are allowed merit increases/promotions. Only hire 'superstars' but will only award a few of them.

Great company

Pros

Great culture, people are extremely bright and enjoy collaborating. Strong leadership, some fun perks here like free lunch and onsite events (like ice cream trucks).

Cons

Start-up pace can be fast, need to be prepared for some disorganization with moving priorities. Compensation and benefits are below market. Compared to the rest of leadership, the people ops lead is not good. He is known internally for not responding to his emails and doesn't know what compensation or benefits programs are competitive. His lack of understanding how start ups work in our industry is very obvious to a lot of us. We still have an annual number of pto days, every other company has unlimited. He just put in place 2% cost of living increases for the entire company which is also really below market. Promotions and performance ratings/increases are random and lack oversight (I was promoted last cycle so I'm not complaining about myself). Maybe get rid of the ice cream trucks and give us bigger salaries?
