My entire department was conveniently scheduled for 7.5 hour shifts so they did not need to provide any lunch breaks. Unfortunately, the shifts would run over well past time, often longer than 9 hours . You would be required to stay as you had people in your stations/bar area. Not much appreciation as no one ever said, "Can you stay, or thanks for staying". During the busy season, this was a daily occurrence. When the slow season came they send you home, even though you have diligently driven into the estate in your uniform for work. Very much a one-sided commitment, with very little thought about the worker involved.
