Small Company Feel with Big Politics

Pros

The company does great things for the non-profit customers and it is a rewarding job knowing that you are helping nonprofit customers make a world a better place. However, nonprofits have a small shoe-string budget and cannot afford to spend a lot of money. Nonprofits fundraise for a living and a means to survive.

Cons

The company is very political and you must play the game in order to get recognition and promotions. Pay is less than attractive with mediocre bonuses. The belief that hard work will win is a false reality. It is the staff member that brown-nose the most will move up in the chain while others watch. Rewards and recognitions are extremely unfair. If you don't make waves, you will be unnoticed. If you want your career to idle, this is the place to be. Technology is outdated at Blackbaud. Staffing at nonprofits are minimal with high turnovers. Invoices/billing to nonprofits are scrutinized. When the economy sunk, so did the company. Bonuses are share and given to everybody including poor performers. If you want your career to idle and coast through the remainder of your professional life, this is the perfect place to be.

Pros

Option to work at home is nice. People in the office are nice.

Cons

No training. you are left to do multiple things and figure things out on your own. You are expected to know how everything works withhut someone explaining how things work. Pay is under industry standards. Management only seems to listen to management. You are only noticed if something did not work correctly. I have worked here for 6 months and have had minimal contact with my own manager as to how things are.
