Pros

Blackbaud used to be a wonderful tech company to work for -- many of the team members are nice people who care about their work and clients.

Cons

CEO, COO and others all came from same huge white-guy-driven banking firm and have turned what was formerly a very cool tech company doing good work, into a very traditional, old-fashioned, boring corporation. They refer to engineers as the "Software Factory." Do not waste your time if you're looking for a remote opp or even a flexible situation. If hired, expect to move to CHS (expensive plus lots of traffic) and sit in the new open-concept HQ all day long like it's the 1950's. (Bring your headphones if you expect to concentrate!)

Pros

Working with nonprofits, great people, not too stressful, great PTO, flexible depending on manager and location

Cons

1.the product. It is so far behind the competition, integration they tout is not there between all products. They tend to acquire products that are #15-17 on the list, instead of acquiring best in class - just to tick off a box that they have the functionality. But it will be 3-5 years before they are integrated into the core system. They told employees to put positive reviews on Glassdoor - so don't let them fool you. The ones writing good reviews, probably live in Charleston with nowhere else to work because Blackbaud is the main company there. Awfully low pay overall. I cannot stress enough that the products are so far from what they should be. Customers end up having to stay because the migration process is too expensive and lengthy - but the main complaints are that support is awful ( lack of staff) and implementation starts about 6-7 months after you sign and start paying on your contract.

Pros

The best thing about Blackbaud is its customers. Where else do you have the opportunity to work with so many amazing nonprofit customers?! In theory, the company offers a great way for anyone passionate about social good to really amplify their impact on the world around them. I absolutely loved working there from 2013-2017.

Cons

Things began changing for the worst in late 2017. The focus on the customer completely disappeared and the company implemented policies that (in many cases) created deep negative impacts on our nonprofit clients' abilities to do their missions. The ELT (Executive Leadership Team) only cares about the bottom line and will do ANYTHING to get to this nirvana of being a "billion dollar company." I'd be fine with that if we were squeezing pennies from regular for-profit companies, but squeezing hospitals, universities, and nonprofits is not something that I can morally support. There are layoffs every January and the culture in the Austin office is terrible right now.
