Pros

Our team was made up of wonderful, creative, passionate people. Direct managers and leaders cared about each individual and the work we were doing.

Cons

Executive leadership did not value the work or the individuals in our department. Layoffs started out yearly but moved to a more regular cadence. Our entire department suffered major budget cuts and eventually major layoffs. We were expected to take on the responsibilities of those who were laid off without an increase in pay. Compensation was low for the tech industry. Not a place to build a long term career. Avoid.

Pros

Lots of areas to make an impact as an individual contributor. Opportunities to design, develop, maintain, and support Greenfield micro services with an awesome engineering system in place. Great place to learn if you are self-motivated

Cons

Engineers aren't incentivized well enough to care about the business targets / outcomes, so they naturally don't really care. This leads to lots of fluff and waste being created that doesn't improve customer satisfaction. So many "shiny new things" that get local praise, but then business / senior leadership isn't able to produce results that improve customer satisfaction because people are building things customers aren't asking for. This is definitely a culture where you can be kind and coast by for decades without really innovating and growing. It can be difficult to work on teams because many of the other folks simply are maintaining the status quo and are resistant to any sort of change
